Texas Rangers Close to Reacquiring Josh Hamilton

By Chris Stuckey

Well…it seems to be all but official. Josh Hamilton is headed back to Texas where he experienced his most success as a professional.

The Josh Hamilton story is no secret to anyone. His most recent newsworthy off-field shenanigans have been oft reported. The recovering addict suffered a drug and alcohol relapse this offseason. This incident has left the relationship between Hamilton and the Los Angeles Angels strained. How strained, you ask? Strained enough that the Angels are willing to pay all but $15 million of the $83 million he is still owed. [Read more…]

Stuckey’s Academy Award Predictions

By Chris Stuckey

With the Oscars on the the horizon, I felt like you needed to know my predictions. I watched each Best Picture and provided a brief synopsis below. My official predictions can be found at the conclusion of this article. Enjoy.

American Sniper

American Sniper is a film that really needs no synopsis. Everyone has heard of it and most have seen it. Bradley Cooper plays the role of Chris Kyle, the most decorated sniper in American military history. In terms of appearance and diction, Cooper was on point. It was certainly a moving film and definitely worthy of its Best Picture nomination as was Cooper for Best Actor. Despite this, I think American Sniper leaves Oscar night without either piece of hardware. [Read more…]

Saved By The Bell is Back on TV and Better Than Ever

By Chris Stuckey

Jimmy Fallon is one of the best things to ever happen to late night television. While doing a few shows in Los Angeles, Fallon gathered up the some of the original Saved By The Bell cast members to give us the best eight minutes and 11 seconds we’ve seen in quite some time.

If you love Zack, Kelly, Slater, Jessie and Mr. Belding like I do, you have to watch this video at least once…or maybe on repeat for the rest of the day. Enjoy. [Read more…]

Remembering Stuart Scott (1965-2015)

By Chris Stuckey

By now you have already heard the terrible, awful, heartbreaking news about a man who left us far too soon. Stuart Scott hung up proverbial the mic for the final time on Sunday and moved on to the SportsCenter studio in the sky. Cancer took him from us, but he is so much more than another face of the battle still being fought. Stuart Scott was a dad, an ex-husband, a boyfriend, a television personality, and to all of us with cable or satellite…a friend.

Stu started with ESPN in 1993. I was five years old. That means I have not personally known ESPN without Stuart. The duo of Stuart Scott and Rich Eisen was one of my favorites on SportsCenter. Stu is, was, and always will be cool…cooler than the other side of the pillow some might say. He appealed to my demographic but not because he was trying to. He was 100 percent authentic, whether you liked it or not. [Read more…]

A Day to Remember: Run It Like It’s Hot Mud Run

By Chris Stuckey

August 23, 2014 was truly an awesome day. The Run It Like It’s Hot charity mud run benefitting the Miracle League of East Texas was held in Longview, TX and was a huge success. I’m proud to say that we had a small part in that.

Run It Like It’s Hot Mud Run benefitting The Miracle League – Team ProjectShanks.com – August 23, 2014

ProjectShanks.com had a team that accounted over 25 (of 1200+) runners and helped raise more than $1,500 in charitable donations alone! I can’t even begin to tell you how happy this makes me. We received an official number but it would not be surprising if this event raised north of $50,000. Huge.

If you’re not familiar with The Miracle League, I encourage you to check out the video below. Please consider a donation to help bring a Miracle League field to Longview.

The amount of time and effort that goes into putting on an event such as this is unthinkable. Bob Graham and Vikki Jones along with countless volunteers made it possible for all of the participants to have as much fun as they did. I may have been on the sidelines but I promise you I enjoyed myself as much as anyone.

A special thank you goes out to Global Graphics/Locker Room for helping outfit Team ProjectShanks.com. We always strive to look our best regardless of our speed or athleticism. Give them a call for all of your apparel needs.

A special thank you also goes out to Matthew Nehrling who graciously donated time, energy and his photography talents to help capture the many great moments from the day. His photos will be on ProjectShanks.com in the next few days.

As most of you know, ProjectShanks.com is a hobby for me. My day job is JOTS Rentals and AP Rentals. We were more than happy to provide portable toilets, showers and equipment to help build the course. Giving back and helping the community is something that we always have and always will do.

In case you don’t believe, here are some members of Team ProjectShanks.com telling you about their experience…

“I had a great time with a wonderful group of people. So proud to run for a cause like the Miracle League. Loved being a part of Team Project Shanks and representing my best friend Chris Stuckey.” – Lane Waters

“The mud run was a challenge for me but also a ton of fun. I was proud to be on team project shanks and it was definitely a cause worth the time and effort.” – Ally Newlin

“I took the challenge to join the Project Shanks team and participate in the Run It Like It’s Hot mud run to support a good cause. I came out with an awesome experience to put in the books, and also met a lot of new people. People are scared to try these mud runs, but it’s not always about competition. It’s about the experience, the fun, and the support of one another that turns into friendships. Today was a great day and people should step out of their comfort zones and enjoy new experiences like the one.” – Shana Evans

“I was a little skeptical at first because I’m not a fan of getting dirty…but I actually had a blast and I’m looking forward to next year!” – Katie Bridges

Johnny Manziel: Simply a Winner

By Chris Stuckey

Love him or hate him, you gotta watch him.

Calling Johnny Manziel enigmatic would be an understatement. You probably know how I feel about Mr. Football. Call me a hater if you would like but he is, in my opinion, ungracious, privileged and lacking perspective. But that’s not what this column is about. It’s about Johnny Manziel the winner. Emma Watson…PSDC Favorite and College Graduate

By Chris Stuckey

As if her career accomplishments weren’t enough already, Emma Watson walked across the stage on Sunday as a graduate of Brown University. The 24-year-old actress earned a degree in English literature.

Emma celebrated her accomplishment like any graduate would…by tweeting a cap and gown selfie.

Not to make anyone feel bad about themselves but the uber-successful actress now has an Ivy League diploma to hang on her wall. [Read more…]

The Newsroom Coming Back for Third and Final Season

By Chris Stuckey

News came down on Monday that ‘The Newsroom’ has been renewed for a third season but it will also be its last. The HBO series created by Aaron Sorkin had its detractors but I, personally, really enjoyed it. You can criticize the fast pace of the dialog on a Sorkin show if you want but I’m a fan of his work.

My hope is that the final season, which will premiere this fall, wraps up the necessary shorelines. What is going to happen with Jim and Maggie? What about Don and Sloan? When are Will and Mac getting married? What will Charlie say next? Please end it right, Sorkin. I need closure. [Read more…]
