The Simpsons Guy – The Simpsons – Family Guy Crossover

By John Baggett

I grew up on The Simpsons. For 25 years I have watched this show and remember its glory days fondly and continue to watch simply out of nostalgia. I can pretty much say the same thing about Family Guy. Both can be listed amongst the greatest TV animated shows of all time but both are kinda past their prime. The Simpsons remains amusing and Family Guy continues to go for the shock laugh but the quality has dipped over time. (How South Park is still consistently funny is amazing to me.)

So, naturally the fanboy in me was excited about the crossover episode that opened up season 13 of Family Guy, titled “The Simpsons Guy.” The episode made headlines for first being a thing and then for making a rape joke that offended some people. Naturally the joke stayed in because it already made the rounds online and that’s the humor Family Guy goes for. And in the context of the show the joke actually works. [Read more…]

Breaking-Bad-vs-True-Detective

#1 Breaking Bad vs #16 True Detective

If this matchup were five years in the future, this is a potential title game. Unfortunately for True Detective, the show only has one (spectacular) season under its belt…Breaking Bad had five. It remains to be seen if True Detective can keep up the pace without Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, especially when compared to the performances from Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. Heisenberg won’t leave any half-measures here. - Tommy Guastaferro

The-Office-vs-Saved-By-The-Bell

#5 The Office vs #12 Saved By the Bell

Ah, the classic 12/5 upset. This one could go either way…and if you look at it, The Office is just an adult version of Bell; Michael is Mr. Belding, Jim is Zack, Dwight is Screech, Pam is Kelly, Oscar is Tori. The Office gave two and half seasons of great television, with six and a half mediocre-to-subpar seasons. Saved by the Bell gave us five seasons and two feature films of pure, nostalgic cheese.  I think nostalgia wins out here, although it’s hard (that’s what she said). - Tommy Guastaferro

Family Guy Kills Off One of Its Most Beloved Characters

SPOILER ALERT: If you saw Sunday’s episode of Family Guy, you know that the beloved family pet Brian is no more. Watch the below video to see how it happened.

A couple members of the ProjectShanks.com family shared their thoughts on Brian’s passing…

Michael Conway: RIP Brian Griffin. The canine who could understand complex philosophical thoughts, but still possessed a primal need to chase cars and roll in smelly things. He was truly a “noble savage.”

Bobby Roberts: I watched the episode and it made me think about if Nugget died. I was an emotional wreck by the end. Stewie will get his time machine back. If Cleveland is coming back, Brian must as well.
