A Bears Fan’s View of a Packers Game…NSFW

By Joe Hines

My name is Joe and I’m a Bears fan. This is my testimony. Assembled group…”Hi Joe.”

My team is home for the playoffs as usual, and since the state of Wisconsin is hoping for some subjectivity as it applies to their football team, aka the Green Bay Packers, I have decided to watch their playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys among the faithful assembled at Lou’s Riverview Bar and Grill in halfway up County K between Fort Atkinson and Jefferson Wisconsin. Out of the 50 or so gathered for the game, I am the only one who doesn’t sport some clothing article with the Grambling ‘G’ on my person. Oh wait, it’s for Green Bay? My bad. [Read more…]

2013 NFL Team Preview: Dallas Cowboys

By Matt Rogers
PSDC Writer

For two years running, the Cowboys have finished the season with back-to-back losses, missed the playoffs and finished third in their division with an 8-8 record. Tony Romo insisted this offseason he is not an 8-8 quarterback. Unfortunately for Tony, his old coach, Bill Parcells already explained this as simply as anyone could. Sorry Tony, “you are what your record says you are,” and you quarterback an 8-8 team.

Since the Cowboys entered this offseason with extremely limited cap space options, Jerry Jones attempted to right the ship by turning over some of his coaching staff, drafting poorly and losing more talent than he acquired. As great a business man as Jerry Jones is, I continue to be shocked on a regular basis that he so stubbornly continues to deny his shortcomings as the team’s general manager.

To correct their defensive problems, the Cowboys fired Rob Ryan and broke Monte Kiffin out of his Southern California retirement home. The plan is for Kiffin to convert the defense back to the 4-3 of the glory days, which will allow DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer to return to their natural defensive end position.

The Cowboys are also being coy about whether Jason Garrett will retain play-calling duties of if that job will be entrusted to OC Bill Callahan who last called plays when he was at Nebraska. I’m not sure if either will make a positive impact, but I do continue to admire Jason Garrett’s ability to smile and play along with the cover story that he actually has a voice in Jerry’s decision making process.

2012 NFL Team Preview: Dallas Cowboys

By Chris Stuckey
Editor-in-Chief

How do you accurately describe the plight of a Dallas Cowboys fan? The expectations are through the roof every year. It’s pretty much Super Bowl or bust season after season even though merely winning a playoff game has been a struggle for more than a decade. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Cowboys fan and I’m not asking for any sympathy. I’m merely pointing out that being America’s team isn’t easy. Is some of the pressure brought on by their owner/GM that makes a concerted effort to be larger than life? Well yeah but that’s not the players’ fault. Jerry is a great owner but an atrocious general manager, which is why success has been so difficult to attain as of late. ESPN may give a ton of attention to the Jets and their backup quarterback but I promise the majority of their viewers care more about the Cowboys. [Read more…]
