Chicago Bears vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers…Lovie Smith Returns

My gut tells me most people don’t give a rat’s ass about my Chicago Bears, and frankly given my personal travails the last couple of weeks have dampened my enthusiasm. But here I am in front of the TV watching the epic return of Tampa head coach Lovie Smith to Chicago to face the team that sent him packing following the 2012-13 season. A gray, rainy day typical of the mood surrounding the disappointing Bears and the lackluster Buccaneers surrounds Soldier Field and the game itself.

Passes misfiring on both sides, defense as a rumor and special teams with no heart along with flags thrown every other play. No rhythm, no semblance of actual NFL offenses or defenses. The Bucs lead by a touchdown, the only one scored thus far in this extraordinarily boring game. Lovie’s game plan with the Bears during his entire tenure was to keep the game close giving his team a chance to snatch victory in the closing minutes.
